Launching a Legacy - Investing In The Next 50 Years of Tennis and Pickleball

After 48 years, Canada Games is returning to St. John’s and with it the opportunity to create a generational infrastructure project to provide accessible year-round tennis and pickleball for the next 50 years.

Through a partnership with the St. John’s Tennis Association, Tennis Newfoundland & Labrador and Tennis Canada, this project seeks to upgrade the province’s core court facilities to serve the greater community.

This new facility will continue to act as the heart of tennis and pickleball in Newfoundland & Labrador, hosting Provincial, Atlantic and National events. It will also provide satellite programming across the province for players and coaches, to continue to raise the level of tennis and pickleball in our province.

New Bubble

New air dome structure increasing from 6 to 7 courts to meet Canada Games technical requirements, as well as those for future regional/national competition.

Six Pickleball courts will become permanent after the Canada games.  To improve the dome's resilience to heavy snowfalls, it will be separated from the clubhouse and connected by an entrance tunnel, with a revolving door instead of an airlock.

Green Belt Clubhouse

Clubhouse upgrades to meet or exceed current accessibility guidelines – for Canada Games and future use for wheelchair tennis and pickleball.
